The communication standards are evolving as the number of SPAM calls has exponentially increased with the introduction of VOIP calling and spoof caller identification. To combat this the FCC developed STIR/SHAKEN, a framework of connected standards to prevent fraudulent and unwanted calls while assigning authenticity to each call. To remain compliant with your communication efforts and ensure that you are getting the highest rates of connectivity it is highly recommended that you take the time to register for STIR/SHAKEN and SPAM protection. Below we'll go through a few FAQ's about STIR/SHAKEN and how you can register through the WAVV Power Dialer Trust Hub.

STIR/SHAKEN FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is STIR/SHAKEN?: STIR/SHAKEN was created by the FCC as a set of standards designed to combat caller ID spoofing/SPAM calls, and to enhance the overall trustworthiness of phone calls made using VOIP phone numbers. STIR/SHAKEN stands for Secure Telephone Identity Revisited/Signature-based Handling of Asserted information using toKENs. All that this means is that once you have taken the time to register through STIR/SHAKEN and become verified, you are providing carrier providers with the knowledge that you are a valid business that has permission to call the contacts you are dialing, which in turn means that you will see a higher rate of success with call connection as your calls will be blocked less frequently. 

Who needs to register for STIR/SHAKEN?: Currently, only those with a valid EIN can register for STIR/SHAKEN. As soon as a solution for Sole Proprietors becomes available through WAVV we will provide an update. In the meantime, a Sole Proprietor can always register for an EIN through the IRS.gov website for free by clicking here.

Is STIR/SHAKEN registration required to use the WAVV Dialer?: Currently, it is not a requirement but it is highly recommended if you have an EIN registered through the IRS. 

What is the benefit of registering through the Trust Hub for STIR/SHAKEN?: There are a few benefits! The first is the knowledge that you will receive a higher rate of connectivity. When using a VOIP number, carrier providers can never be certain that you are who you say you are or that you have permission to call your contacts. This means that you are far more likely to have calls filtered through spam blocker applications or features provided by carrier networks. Once you have registered through the Trust Hub for your STIR/SHAKEN business registration and it is approved, carriers will be less likely to send your calls through filters and deliver them to your intended call recipient. The second benefit is that you will be considered a verified business. This means, that the caller ID display will show the Caller ID Name you've indicated and will contain a verified checkmark, letting consumers know that you are a trusted business and not spoofing someone else's caller ID information. 

What happens if I choose not to register for STIR/SHAKEN?: You will likely see a reduction in the number of calls connected to your valued contacts. In addition, you may regularly receive complaints that when you are connected to your intended call recipient, they will see "Spam," "Spam Likely," or other variations of Spam listed as your caller ID. (You do have the option to indicate what you'd like your Caller ID to be displayed as in the WAVV Power Dialer general settings, but without completing the registration there is no guarantee that your designated Caller ID will be honored since it's up to the call recipient's carrier to determine the trustworthiness of your call.) 

How will I know if my STIR/SHAKEN registration has been verified/accepted?: Once you've submitted your registration through the Trust Hub you'll have the option to see real-time updates on the status of your submission and to take action if any is required.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR STIR/SHAKEN THROUGH YOUR TRUST HUB

  1. First, login to your Wise Agent CRM and click the Integrations tab then click Settings from there click the Settings icon next to Manage Subscription. 


  2. From there click the Trust Hub tab from within the WAVV Power Dialer settings. 
    NOTE: You will also be prompted to complete the STIR/SHAKEN registration the first time you activate the WAVV Power Dialer. You can SKIP the registration to continue through your General Settings configuration. You will always have the option to submit your registration at any time by accessing the Trust Hub settings.
  3. Enter your business information EXACTLY how it is shown on your IRS documentation. For example, if your business name is displayed as WAVV LLC on your tax documentation that is the format that should be used when entering your business name, rather than simply WAVV. This includes all the information provided under Business Info. Be sure that all information provided is exactly what is currently registered within the IRS to ensure your registration is seamless. 
  4. Click Submit to confirm your details.
